Flame of Surrender by Rhiannon Paille

Flame of Surrender is due to come out at November 1st, 2011.

Look at this cover. I think it's one of the best covers I've ever seen. It's so beautiful, and Kaliel can be seen perfectly like she is in the whole book. If I saw this in a bookstore, I'd probably buy it right away.

Flame of Surrender is one of the most original books I've read recently. I mean, it takes a lot to build a whole plot with unique world like that. And I loved it; the places, their rituals and holidays, the way they act and talk. Their rules happened to be the most important part of the story; Kaliel and Krishani have to face them. Each is destined to his/her own duty, whether he/she is willing to accept it or not.

The writing is beautiful. I seem to forget myself as I read, sinking deeper into the story; into the other world. Places I had a hard time to remember became familiar as I kept reading, characters and history as well. The author isn't missing anything, every story is full of details and descriptions. Nothing is forgotten.

I loved the difficulties in the story, the complex. I loved the fact that I wasn't sure who's to love and who's to hate. As I kept reading this book and hoped that everything will turn out OK, I could relate to both Krishani and Kaliel. These both points of view were great.

Sometimes it felt like time has passed too quickly, long periods has gone without telling about them. I felt like I was missing something, like the "little" moments which needed to be in the story, weren't. Time wasn't consistent.

More than once, I felt lost. It happened more in the beginning, but even later I found myself not-understanding what the characters talk about. I think if there were more explanations about the little things that are found in the other world, it'd be better.

It took me so long to read it, but I loved the book. The feelings and the thoughts which were described were wonderful. Kaliel and Krishani's story was amazing and I can't wait to get the next book and to see what happens!

PS. I might have an ebook copy of the book, but I'm going to get a real copy as soon as it comes out.
